The region is grappling with the ongoing effects of the 8.8 magnitude event, which was the strongest recorded on Kamchatka since 1952. The earthquake also triggered a tsunami in the Pacific Ocean, prompting warnings from authorities in Japan, the United States, and the Philippines.
